Have you celebrated your baby's first birthday? For first time parents, this is a huge milestone.

I wanted beautiful, unique and quality made party decorations. But surprisingly I couldn't find anything that was personally appealing, including the plethora of commercial offerings. Enough already!

Having always been a hands-on creative enthusiast, I decided to make my own. First it was the invitation - simple silhouette image of my little girl - it looks exactly like her! Then the birthday banner. They both turned out so well, I was encouraged to make coordinating cake toppers and bunting flags. I enjoyed the creative process so much and was so eager to finish them I didn't even notice the late nights anymore! I even made centrepieces for the tables using selected black and white pictures of my baby in her first year. So adorable they were, guests took them home as favours! What remained I re-used and made into a gorgeous photo wall to commemorate her first year which now hangs in her room. 

The party was a success, including the decorations with some fantastic feedback and words of encouragement from family and friends.

My labour of love was reborn into 'made for ava'. The name? My daughter's. She was the inspiration then, and she's the inspiration now. Thank you my darling! 

As a part time working mother, I can't begin to tell you how exhilirating it feels to be where I am today. Fortunate and blessed.
